Mario Stantchev – Musica sin fin (LP)

Mario Stantchev – Musica sin fin (LP)

First solo album for Mario Stantchev whose life is a novel that divides between Bulgaria and France in sequences worthy of adventure films with music for backdrop: from the family den in Sofia where he grows quietly with his father-pianist and his mother-singer, to the dictatorship from the teaching of Bulgarian conservatories, to his arrival incredible in France and finally to his installation in Lyon where he created the Jazz Department of the Conservatory of Lyon, Mario Stantchev can claim an existence of an unusual intensity that has led him to look for issues and to cross many musicians in all fields – classical music, gypsy, rock, pop, contemporary and jazz! – and collaborations with Ron Carter, Daniel Humair, Adam Nussbaum, Riccardo Del Fra, Steve Swallow, John Scofield, Michael Brecker, André Ceccarelli, Laurent Blumenthal, Louis Sclavis, Toots Thielemans, Lionel Martin… The Ensemble 2E2M by Claude Méfano and Claude Ballif and the set intervals. His music, his thirst for freedom, of meeting and of the interest he manifested in all music:

« … This devil of a pianist is there for the pleasure of playing, and it is communicative: tonal outputs, classic quotes, various traps and improvised régalades… » JAZZMAG
